Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Major Functions:

Must provide direct clinical care including assessments, medication management and medication administration. Must possess ability to work autonomously, collaborating with physicians, peers and others in the health care community. Successful candidate should have experience working with psychiatric clients as well as clients with co-occurring substance disorders.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must provide direct clinical care including assessments, medication management, and medication administration.
  • Provides psychiatric evaluations to clients.
  • Provides treatment planning recommendations.
  • Medication management.
  • Provides psychiatric emergency crisis management and consultation.
  • Participates in clinical training and staff development.
  • Ensure documentation meets regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
  • Provide assistance with administrative work.

Requirement:

  • Experience working with psychiatric clients as well as clients with co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Must process ability to work autonomously, collaborating with physicians, peers and others in the health care community.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program, required.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
  • National Board Certification in specialty area, required.
  • Must possess New York State prescriptive rights.
  • Previous experience relevant to the area of clinical practice, preferred.
