Vice President of Transitional Housing

As Vice President of Transitional Housing, Jerry Heaney manages Samaritan Daytop Village's portfolio of 28 family and single adult shelters, which provide temporary housing to more than 3,700 homeless New Yorkers each night. In this role, he also oversees our collaboration with the NYC Department of Social Services, NYC Department of Homeless Services, NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, and other government and private entities.

Mr. Heaney spent his entire career at Samaritan Daytop Village, having joined the agency in 1990. He most recently served as Assistant Vice President of Transitional Housing and before then Senior Director for the agency's shelter and annex sites. Over the years, his increasing levels of responsibility have included positions as Assistant Program Director, Clinical Supervisor and Case Manager.  Mr. Heaney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Community and Human Services from Empire State College and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from John Jay College. An avid swimmer, he resides in Staten Island with his wife and two daughters.
