Citywide Addiction Support Network Launches
Every 5 hours, a New York City resident dies of a drug overdose.
According to the New York City Department of Health, Manhattan, and the Bronx have the highest rates of fatal overdoses from opioids or stimulants in New York City. There are more overdoses in the Bronx than any state in the U.S. – and it has been that way since 2015.
In response, Samaritan Daytop Village, along with 20 other nonprofits and community-based service providers along with NYC Health + Hospitals, have banded together to form the Citywide Addiction Support Network (CASN). The network is bringing 24/7 prevention, treatment, and recovery services to historically underserved communities in Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx.
Key to CASN’s success are peer outreach specialists who engage and interact with potential clients. They canvas public spaces to persuade individuals in need to seek treatment for addiction and to connect to recovery services.
At the end of each conversation, a hotline number is shared based on the need for treatment or recovery services.
- 718-206-1990 - connects callers to treatment or Suboxone, a medication that curbs cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
- 929-244-1500 or 929-244-1445 - connects callers to our PARC (Peer Alliance Recovery Center) locations in Queens and the Bronx. The community-based recovery center offers training, vocational, and other resources including one-on-one guidance from a certified Recovery Coach.

CASN is led by two agencies: Samaritan Daytop Village and NYC Health + Hospitals. The initiative was awarded $10.49M from the NYS Office of Addiction Supports and Services. The award was funded through the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s State Opioid Response program.
Other CASN network providers include ACI, Alliance for Positive Change, Argus Community, Children’s Aid, CSEDNY, Educational Alliance, Fortune Society, Greenwich House, Hamilton-Madison House, Housing Works, Lower Eastside Service Center, Mental Health Providers of Western Queens, Mosaic Mental Health, Network for Human Understanding, New Horizon Counseling Center, Reality House, Samaritan Daytop Village, Services for the UnderServed, St. Joseph's Medical Center, Tri Center, and Upper Manhattan Mental Health's Bowen Center.
